![]() ![]() I submitted all this information as a special request chit going all the way to the CO. Went back and forth with the Cybersecurity guys, got some letters to give the command stating approval, verification of being affiliated with SkillBridge, and a curriculum with my start and end dates (which I aligned with my EAOS - we’ll talk about this in the debunk area). ![]() Spoke with my leadership, explained the program a little bit got some rough dates to play with. As much as 6 months or as little as 1 month - whatever I needed and whatever the command would approve. Week later, I got another email that said congrats, let us know what dates you want to start. but designed in a way where you aren’t going to find the answers on Quizlet. I wasn’t sure if I’d even get to continue with the application process because I wasn’t sure how my test scores would stack up against some guy whose been doing this stuff his entire career. That this “internship” is more of a classroom setting to learn. to confirm whether I had the capability to learn the materials and to get a base line knowledge on computers, networks, and cybersecurity principals. They said they have some tests (which I had to sign a NDA about). I was very straight forward about my experiences - I told this guy I don’t know anything, but that I’m willing to learn. Interview was fine, some Airforce veteran who likely did this stuff for 20 years and got out. I applied, filled out some brief information, and received an email within a week wanting to setup an interview. well let’s just debunk all of those.įirst off I was accepted to a company called Forge Institute. I’ve heard the “you have to already have a skill, or degree or something”, and “it’s for higher enlisted”. Commands mostly do not have a local instruction for the process, and Big Navy offers only very brief guidance. You will have to baby sit this request all the way to the top - or it won’t get there. theres a lot of misinformation in fleet coming from our leaders regarding skillbridge, and honestly I think it comes from a place of them not wanting to mess with it as it was kind of a cluster fuck. fucked off for 6 years? This is really your only option to get something out of the Navy at the very last minute. and with the new TA instruction barring most of us from using it. but Just wanted to drop this off in here, since I know we’re a rate that gets hit hard by HYT (even though we just got that new navadmin lol). I got accepted and command approval to attend a skillbridge program in Cybersecurity - as someone with no prior experience, and who has only worked in medicine. Hopefully I can help some guys clear up some of the SkillBridge myths they’re probably hearing too. Updated this to reflect what I posted in the Corpsman sub.
